Why can't my students view my Panopto video?
Why can't my students view my Panopto video? There can be a couple of reasons why they might not be able to view your posted video: 1. There are video permission issues or 2. Your video has been archived. Video Permission issues: If you have shared out or embedded your Panopto video, but the students are not able to view the video or get a message that looks like this: OR And they click to sign in it brings them back to the Bridges login screen. This indicates there is an issue with the permission settings of the video. You have two options: 1. Ask students to login to Panopto by clicking on Panopto in the course or on the Home menu and then access the video. 2. Change the permissions to "Public Unlisted" * Select the Share icon when you hover over the video Select Change Select Public (unlisted)* * Selecting Public (unlisted) will make all access to the videos as anonymous users, as viewers are not required to login. If you would need to view statistics by user for assessment purposes, do not change the setting to unlisted and the student must click on Panopto within Bridges first, before viewing the video if you are embedding or sending out video links. Your video has been archived: If the video the students are trying to watch has not be accessed in over 18 months, the video might have fallen into archive. Students are not able to view the video, or get a message that looks like this: To recall a video once archived: If you click on an archived video (see screenshot), the process will begin to "defrost" the video which may require 48 hours to retrieve for viewing. When this process is complete, the video will be playable. If you have videos embedded in your class, to assure students can view them as needed and are not in the archive, please make sure to play them ahead of time. Students can also request videos to be taken out of archive however, they need to be authenticated into Panopto (clicking on Panopto) before clicking on the video.
